What Contractor Verification Means on Hands2Hands

Verification gives homeowners useful information about a contractor’s submitted business identity. It is one part of a hiring decision—not a promise about a particular project, price, schedule, or result.

What Hands2Hands reviews

A contractor applying for verification provides a business name, contact name, business address, business phone number, and at least one accepted type of business document. Current accepted document types include a business license, business registration certificate, certificate of incorporation, or DBA statement.

The submitted business address must also be located successfully through the platform’s address-verification step before an administrator can approve the submission. An administrator reviews the submission and may approve it, reject it, or request additional information.

  • Submitted business and contact information
  • At least one required business document
  • A business address that can be verified through the address lookup
  • Optional professional-license details when the contractor submits them

What “approved” or “verified” means

An approved status means Hands2Hands accepted the contractor’s current verification submission under the platform’s review process. The badge helps distinguish an approved business submission from one that is unsubmitted, still under review, rejected, or waiting for additional information.

Public contractor discovery also requires an active, non-suspended profile with enough information for a homeowner to evaluate it, including offered services, a business description, business location, years in business, and a stated response-time expectation.

How license information should be used

Contractors may submit professional-license information for supported trades, and approved active license details may appear on a public profile. License requirements and status can change, and not every service requires the same credential.

When a license is important for your project, confirm the license type, holder, status, jurisdiction, and scope directly with the appropriate issuing authority. Do not assume that one credential applies to every service a business offers.

What verification does not guarantee

Verification is not a guarantee of workmanship, availability, pricing, project outcome, legal compliance, or the accuracy of every future statement. The current badge should not be interpreted as a criminal background check, comprehensive insurance review, bond, warranty, or endorsement by Hands2Hands.

It also does not replace permits, project-specific licenses, insurance certificates, references, written scope, or your own evaluation of whether the contractor is a good fit.

How to evaluate a contractor profile

  • Services: Confirm that the contractor’s listed services match the work you need.
  • Experience: Look at the business description and years in business, then ask about directly comparable projects.
  • Location: Check the public business city and state and discuss whether your property is within the contractor’s working area.
  • Credentials: Review displayed license information and independently confirm anything required for your job.
  • Conversation: Ask about scope, schedule, materials, payment, permits, and changes before hiring.

Use verification as a helpful starting signal, then make a project-specific decision based on the complete profile, quote, conversation, and any independent checks that matter for your work.
